Mended Little Hearts meeting – 23 August 2018. A terrific meeting where the speakers spoke to our group about support and self-care. Khadija Essaadi (not pictured) spoke about meditation. Chaplain Mary Tate spoke about spirtual self-care. Jessica Malone spoke about grief and anxiety counseling. Erica Taupier spoke about diet and nutrition. Ashley Genthner taught us about chiropractic self-care, and Kaitlin Loyer rounded up our meeting to speak about essential oils. In the meantime, the kids had fun in the next room with the child care that was provided!
MLHCoVa Heart Day – May 2018. Such an amazing day! Happy 1-Year Anniversary to us as Mended Little Hearts of Coastal Virginia. Our heart families had a blast at our picnic and at the zoo.
Emergency Services Day – April 2018. What a beautiful morning for our Firestation Tour, CHKD Transport Team talk and tour, Flight Paramedic Amy Hobart Cantwell talk and Nightingale demonstration! Our families are truly thankful for all who took the time to show us the ropes and made sure we knew that our heart kiddos are very important and special to them!

Mended Little Hearts meeting – 8 August 2017. We were incredibly fortunate to have one of CHKD’s Pediatric Cardiologist, Dr Alexander Ellis come speak to our group about the transition of child to adult with CHDs. We also had the delightful John Maiorana, a rep from the local Mended Hearts chapter come talk about the history and services that MH provides.

In a conference room at Sentara Leigh Hospital, MLHCoVa held their second meeting, and everyone made cards to give to heart families that are currently inpatient. Rocks were painted to leave in random places to brighten someone’s day.
